SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT

To schedule your initial acupuncture consultation or herbal consultation click "Schedule Online Now" or call us at:

480.734.5488

Hayden Acupuncture & Wellness Center, Mesa Arizona
Your first visit will last approximately an hour and a half, and includes a very comprehensive intake evaluation and your first treatment.

Follow-up visits generally last about an hour. The new patient packet forms are a very important part of your first appointment and must be fully completed beforehand, also you will need to bring a complete list of all your medications, supplements, vitamins, homeopathic and or naturopathic medications or herbs. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that provides easy access to torso, arms and legs. Make sure you have had something to eat, (a small snack is fine) and that you are hydrated. If you do smoke, or drink alcoholic or caffeinated beverages, please do not do so at least 2 hours before your appointment. It is also best to avoid heavy exercise two hours before or after an Acupuncture treatment.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Payment is due at the time of your visit and we accept cash, check, and credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express & Discover). We do not bill your insurance company. If your insurance plan covers Acupuncture, we will provide you with an invoice called a Super Bill, listing the standardized diagnostic and treatment codes as well as the fee that you have paid. This is everything your insurance company needs to reimburse you.

Due to time constraints and the lack of a specialized billing professional in our office,

Hayden Acupuncture & Wellness Center does not deal directly with your insurance company, and we are unable to call them on your behalf. Many insurance companies will either partially or fully cover the cost of acupuncture treatment – it depends on the company and the policy that you have. It is best to contact your insurance carrier before your first visit to learn the coverage limitations of your policy. You are responsible for paying all fees at the time of service for each appointment.

              ONE TREATMENT OR

                                  ONGOING CARE

For acute or more superficial problems, results may be seen

immediately or after only a few treatments. Chronic or long-term                                                                conditions, however, may take longer to respond positively to treatment,                                                  so continued care is required in order to achieve the best results. Many                                                    people come once or twice a week or every other week until they reach a                                                  point where they are happy with their progress. As symptoms improve,                                                    fewer visits are required; your individual progress is the determining                                                          factor. Together you and your practitioner will establish the most ideal                                                      schedule for your continued health care.

Treatment outcomes are difficult to predict because as human beings we often struggle between the need for change and the desire to hang on to what is familiar. Everyone wishes for a cure without change, for recovery without effort, and we understand this, therefore we will be as dedicated to your health care as you are. This is a partnership, based on your desires and commitment.

That being said, there can be extraordinary results of long standing problems that have not responded to western medical or even other complementary treatments. There can also be times when recovery is beyond the scope of acupuncture in spite of dedication and persistence. Ultimately, the only way to discover whether Acupuncture is helpful for you is to try it.

What to Expect on Your First Appointment

Sensations felt during an acupuncture treatment vary depending on the patient, how aware they are of their body and the area that is being needled. Some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. Common feelings described are dull, warming, electrical, heavy, weird and sometimes nothing at all. These are all considered normal sensations.

An Acupuncture needle is very thin, the width of a human hair or cat whisker and though the length may vary depending on the area to be needled, there is virtually no pain from the needle insertion. Most acupuncture needles are designed to slide into the skin and push around capillaries and muscle fibers instead of cutting straight through them (like the needles they use when you are getting a shot).

Some individuals report feeling energized while others feel deeply relaxed and most report a much greater sense of well-being. Sometimes there is immediate relief of pain or discomfort; other times the treatment effects are more evident several days later. Because acupuncture is restorative and encourages the release of tension and worry, there is usually a sense of renewal and calm.
